Warren J. Olsen

Warren co-founded SCB Global and serves as Chief Investment Officer.  He has more than 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship and principal investing -  including originating investment opportunities, leading teams, providing strategic and operational oversight, and board governance. 

Prior to SCB Global, Warren co-founded First Western Financial, a private bank and wealth management firm, and served as Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer.  Under his leadership, the firm grew assets under management to over $5 billion and expanded from Colorado to Arizona, California and Wyoming.

Warren previously served as President of Whitehall Asset Management, where assets increased from $3 billion to $10 billion during his tenure. He was also the founder and president of Morgan Stanley Asset Management’s mutual fund business.

Warren serves and has served on several corporate and non-profit boards of directors, including as Chairman.  Currently, he is a director of Brightwood Capital Advisors, a New York-based private equity firm, a member of the Board of Managers for Aetos Funds, and a member of the Denver Zoological Trust investment committee.

Warren holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and a JD, cum laude, from The Villanova University School of Law.  He is also a former securities attorney and CPA.

Warren lives in Denver and enjoys golfing, fly fishing, and spending time with his three adult daughters.


Russ Matthews President SCB Global Capital Management Denver CO

Russ Matthews

Russ is a co-founder of SCB Global and serves as Chief Operating Officer.  He has over 20 years of management, operational and business development experience. 

Prior to SCB Global, Russ was based in Los Angeles, where he served as Regional Director at Central Park Group.  His responsibilities included helping independent financial advisors provide clients with access to alternative investments, including private equity and hedge funds.

Previously,  Russ led an M&A team at First Western Financial which was responsible for the firm's continued expansion into the Western US, largely through the acquisition of registered investment advisors.  He oversaw the sourcing, evaluation and due diligence process, performed valuations, and led the transition team.  He also served as President of one of the acquired advisory firms based in Los Angeles that managed over $1 billion for families, institutions and high net worth clients.

Earlier, Russ held executive roles at Bear Stearns and Oppenheimer.  He began his career in GE Capital's Management Development Program.

Russ holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. He lives in Denver with his wife and their two mostly well-behaved rescue dogs.  Russ is an avid cyclist, likes to travel, and enjoys food adventures - which these days usually means recipe testing for his wife's holistic nutrition practice.
