Investment Strategy (v1)

SCB Global Capital Management investment strategy

Investment Strategy

SCB Global seeks to grow capital primarily through a combination of long and short investments in the global securities markets.

We believe that a fundamental, disciplined, value-based investment methodology can reward patient, careful investors.

Our approach is to assess macro events and other opportunistic situations that we believe may result in value dislocations of individual companies, industry sectors, markets or broad asset categories. Once these potential value anomalies are identified, we conduct preliminary due diligence on this opportunity set to develop a thesis for why we believe this value variation exists and to form a view on the risk/reward opportunity.

From this set of potential investments, a refined set of opportunities is developed on which further due diligence is performed. Our goal is to select high conviction investments, both long and short, which we believe have  positive asymmetric risk/reward characteristics. As part of this process, we also seek potentially more efficient ways to access the same investment ideas, attempt to identify downside risks, and assess the potential for and the cost of hedging these risks.

SCB Global will invest primarily in equity securities, including both long and short positions in common stocks, preferred stocks, convertible securities, stock warrants, rights and exchange traded funds (ETFs) in developed and emerging markets. We may also occasionally invest in markets referred to as "frontier markets." Other investments may include equity derivatives, such as swaps and other over-the-counter derivatives, debt securities, commodity linked instruments, and currencies.
